Low ash content and low boiler ash discharge, etc.

Application

Depending on its quality, petroleum coke can be used in industries such as graphite, smelting and chemical industry, etc

Petroleum coke, as a byproduct of petroleum, is produced in the process of petroleum processing, that is, the crude oil is distilled to separate light and heavy oil, and the heavy oil is converted into petroleum coke by hot cracking. If petroleum coke can be obtained directly from petroleum processing, then the petroleum coke is raw coke or ordinary coke. Petroleum coke has irregular shape, dark gray or black, porous structure and metallic luster.

Sulfur is one of the impurities that affect the quality of petroleum coke. The sulfur content of petroleum coke depends on 30% to 40% of the residue of sulfur. The sulfur residues of petroleum coke are retained. If the residue with high sulfur content is hydrodesulfurized in advance, reduce the amount of sulfur in the residue, so as to obtain a corresponding reduction in the sulfur content of petroleum coke.

Petroleum Coke

Sulfur in petroleum coke can be divided into organic binding compounds of sulfur (sulfide, mercaptan, sulfonic acid, etc.) Generally, petroleum coke with a sulfur content of less than 0.5% is called low sulfur oil coke, petroleum coke with a sulfur content of about 1% is called medium sulfur oil coke, and petroleum coke with a sulfur content of more than 1.5% is called high sulfur oil coke. The sulfur content of petroleum coke from most producing areas in China is low. Only petroleum coke produced by domestic high sulfur crude oil (such as Shengli Oilfield) or imported crude oil refineries has high sulfur content. The sulfur content of petroleum coke depends on the sulfur content of residue. 30% – 40% of the sulfur in residue remains in petroleum coke. If hydrodesulfurization is carried out in residue with high sulfur content in advance, the sulfur content in residue can be reduced, and the sulfur content of petroleum coke can be reduced accordingly. and inorganic elemental compounds of sulfur (iron sulfide, sulfate). The desulfurization effect, when calcined to about 1300 ℃, is not very good. Only when the calcination temperature is increased to about 1450 ℃ can the desulfurization effect be obvious. Some sulfides need to be discharged at the high temperature of graphitization.

Petroleum Coke

In order to produce anode aluminum electrolysis to produce graphite materials and products, sulfur is a harmful element. The phenomenon of “abdominal distension” is generated in the graphitization process. A large number of graphite electrode sulfur petroleum coke are produced, and the product is easy to causes cracks.

When graphite with high sulfur content is used as the electrode for steelmaking, the consumption of electrode materials per ton of steel has increased. The sulfur content of petroleum coke in most product producing areas of Chinese enterprises is low, and the sulfur content of petroleum coke produced only through the use of domestic high sulfur crude oil or refineries importing high sulfur crude oil is high.
